Minnesota's Oldest and Largest 4th of July Parade Attended by thousands from across the upper midwest, the state's oldest and largest 4th of July parade begins at the Delano High School at 10:30 AM. This year, the 1.5 mile parade route winds through the heart of the city at ends in Central Park. Hundreds of floats, clowns, horses, and other entries are sure to please all in attendance. The Grand Marshal of the 2009 Parade is Mike Lynch of WCCO!
This year's parade will showcase Marching Bands from: Delano High School, Lakeville South High School, and the Leadership Team from the University of Minnesota Marching Band! 2009 Parade Order ----- 2009 Parade Unit Information One float each year is also honored
with the Bill Diem Memorial Chairman's Award. Given by his family
in honor of the Celebration Chair for 30 years, the award is given
by the family to the best float in the parade. Past awards have gone
to: Due to the great attendance this parade enjoys each year, roads into the parade route close at 9:30 AM.(race is at 9:45 AM). There are parking areas in the center of town, and in the lots near the city park. Get there early, enjoy a breakfast barbecue, and celebrate the 4th of July in style! Be sure to make a day of it. Enjoy the parade, then head down to Central Park to enjoy GoldStar Amusements, the final rounds of the baseball and softball tournaments, enjoy a world famous 4th of July burger or two, dance to the music under the big top, and stay for the Fireworks display to cap a fabulous 4th of July celebration for the entire family! |
