One of the oldest 4th of July celebrations in Minnesota will be happening again this year (even with the road construction). The parade route has changed due to the highway 12 detour  so be sure to check out www.delano4th.com to find out where the parade will be going.   The events will start on the July 2nd and run through the 5th of July. There will be a carnival, softball tournaments,  live music and many other activities happening over the long weekend.  Wristband night will be Wednesday, July 2nd  and Saturday July 5th.  The parade starts at 10:30 and this year the Grand Marshal is Miss Delano 1968 Margaret Vaughan. Be sure to stick around for the fire works by the river at 10:30pm on the 5th.  

On April 8th the Highway 12 road construction project started in Delano.  The work includes adding a center turn lane from the south side of the railroad overpass to Wright County Highway 139 and replacing the South Fork Crow River Bridge. Construction also includes city side streets, curb and gutters, sidewalks, water/sanitary sewers, street lighting and a water lift pump station. The bridge will be closed and the detour will be in effect from Monday, April 7 through Saturday, Nov. 15. Motorists will be detoured via Wright County Highway 139/County Line Road, Wright County Highway 30/70th Street Southeast, Wright County Highway 17/River Street and Wright County Highway 30/Bridge Avenue.
